Artist's Statement

The control of authority has become an every day part of our lives within the city. This thesis has been used as a method of research, looking at the historical beginnings of authoritarian control within the city, and tracing its path to modern day London. Elephant and Castle, a region of London, is where I am furthering my concepts and ideas due to specific sites of informal appropriation located within the area which begin to form a counter argument, to what is possibly an over prescribed urban environment.
